Sweet & Condensed: They closed the theater 😞
Scorecard, Movie Theater Etiquette Pt. 2, what we added to our watchlist & a brand new section
We are writing this week’s newsletter while looking at two feet of snow out the window. We hope wherever you are you are warm and happy.
Sadly, because of the snow, they closed all theaters in Denver. But we never want to leave you empty handed. We have a special scorecard for you this week and we will send a scorecard-only update later this weekend when they stop being cowards and reopen AMC.

This week’s movie - “Dream Scenario”
Since we couldn’t make it to the movies this week, we are giving you a scorecard for Dream Scenario, which released last November and is available to stream on Max starting today.
Letterboxd Description:
Hapless family man Paul Matthews finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.
Best Watched With
By yourself wouldn’t be horrible, or with friends who don’t mind surreal, anxiety-fueled comedy.
End credit thought
Nicolas Cage disappears into an unassuming, unremarkable suburban dad (picture the opposite of Nic Cage IRL) but is the highlight of the movie. If you keep in mind that this is an Ari Aster/A24-produced film, you’ll be in the right headspace to appreciate how odd, sad, and touching this movie is. You might laugh at things you feel like you shouldn’t be laughing at.
Don’t sweat it if you missed seeing it on the big screen, this is a great at home watch.
Movie Etiquette Pt. 2 - Movie Snacks
Kelly & Eric - Bring your own, buy them there, either way works. Just do not get up in the middle of the movie to get them. You are blocking everyone's view when you rudely get up and interrupt.
For clarity (Kelly) - You can bring in anything your heart desires. Donuts? A full dozen. Wine? Don't forget the glasses. Wings? As long as you have ranch.
Disclaimer (Eric) - The only forbidden snack is an orange (IYKYK)
Sarah - For snacks, you should make eye contact, smile, then politely ask for their phone…oh DANGIT. Movie theater snacks, not “A snack” walking into the theater from across the room. If I hear you crunching and smacking your popcorn, I will throw hands. Also, your Junior Mints are snacks not a maraca, FOR THE LOVE.
Josh - Popcorn is the only snack that shouldn’t be smuggled in. Everything else is mostly free game.
Not a full theater: Make it a challenge, see what’s possible. I once saw a woman in row B with a complete spread, the holy trinity of dips—Salsa, Queso, Guac,—and a gallon Ziploc bag of tortilla chips.
Full theater: If you're snackin on something with a stench, especially a GD spicy pickle, I'm reporting you to the FBI.
New Mexico Drew - The only snack that should have a smell in the theater is popcorn. Catch me never buying candy at the concession stand. Sour Scandy Swimmers from TJ's will be bulging in my pocket every time an employee from AMC scans my ticket.

We are excited to introduce a new section to the S&C newsletter - Red Cap Essays.
We are approaching these with the Outback Steak House motto - no rules, just right. Some essays will be as long as Killers of the Flower Moon, and some might be two paragraphs. We have no idea how frequently we will post them, but if we have something to share, you bet we'll share it!
We're all trying to figure out who we are and what we are doing, and sometimes, movies can help us make sense of those things. Red Cap Essays will be about anything and everything under that general theme.
If you miss one or don't have time to read the whole thing, fear not. We have created a new section on our site titled "Red Cap Essays" so you can go back at any time.
We hope you enjoy these, and they help you celebrate the magic of movies and humans. We'd love to hear what you think - share your thoughts by replying to the email or commenting below.
